Kahurangi little treasures

Made with the support of NZ on Air Music, we bring to you our collection of 23 wee tunes for younger tamariki. We have been performing most of the waiata for a number of years now, and have some new wee gems in there, too. They can be used for mat time, there are shaker songs and scarf songs and lots that will get your tinana moving and grooving, as well as a few calming waiata. We hope you enjoy them!!

The album’s tracks (click on each title to have a listen):

  1. Nau Mai, Haramai – a great wee welcome song, perfect for mat time.
  2. Lele Means Run – a bilingual Tongan warm-up song that is fast becoming a favourite among many tamariki/children!
  3. Little Taniwha – there are four actions to learn to become a little taniwha… kauhoe/swim, pīoioi/swish, takahia/stomp, and PŪKANA!!
  4. Kina Kina – a classic, with simple hand actions that little hands can learn easily.
  5. Uenuku – learn the colours of the rainbow in Māori using a rainbow stick/prop, if you have one!
